Readathon: The End

I AM SO TIRED EXCUSE ME WHILE I PASS OUT. It's a tad bit early, but it's Hour 24 Darnit D<

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
   Hands down the last few, with thoughts of work and how tired I am crushing in on me, thus the slightly early turning in.
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
   Anything from Rick Riordan works really well. The fast pace, tons of action, light prose combination makes it super to get lost in for hours. Delirium also worked well for me, and if I had gotten to Hunger I think that would have done well as well.
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
   No? Maybe possibly making sure the mini-challenge links are in working order before posting them up? 
4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?

   2 and 2/3rds
6. What were the names of the books you read?
   Delirium, The Sun of Neptune and A Curse Dark as Gold
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
   Delirium, though it now feels forever ago since I read it. It also really lent itself to the mini-challenges.
8. Which did you enjoy least?
   I enjoyed them all pretty equally. I guess the least was A Curse Dark as Gold, but it's a slower paced book (aka not super fast).
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
    As long as chance and fate allowed me to I totally am going to. This was my first readathon and I enjoyed it a lot. I will definitely read again, and if I can think of something I may host a mini-challenge. Those were a def highlight of the event

So finished two books, almost finished a third. Read about 1300 pages, and for from around Hour 3-Hour 13, Hour 17-24.... Which means I was able to read for about 18 hours WOO! Hopefully I won't oversleep next time *laughs*

All in all I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Thanks to the readathon peeps for hosting this and the many mini-challenge hosters (and to chance and the muses for my wins). Thanks for the support on Twitter and visits to my blog. I love you all an Good... Morning?

Readathon: Hour 23 -- The Homestretch!

2/3rds done with A Curse Dark as Gold though I think I'll have to put it aside for the final stretch in favor of something more familiar, from what I have read though it puts me at about 1300 pages for my first readathon. Not too bad *laughs*

Just an hour and a half till I can sleep for about 3 hours and then ship off to work. I think I'll go throw myself into Shannon Hale's Princess Academy now.

Readathon: Hour 20 -- Second Book Finished

As 2AM here in Midwestern USA rolls on buy I finish The Son of Neptune almost on the dot. Next up is an adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin A Curse Dark as Cold by Elizabeth C. Bunce.

I have also deemed it time to enjoy the snack I've most looked forward to: Maple Butter <3

Readathon: Hour 16 -- I'm Back!

Okay I am back for good, many power nap 'Z's were have and I should be able to catch the rest after we cross the finish line!

Okay Mini-Challenge time:

Blue Stocking's Reread Challenge:

My top five favourite Rereads:
1) Dark Lord of Derkholm & Year of the Griffin by Diana Wynne Jones -- Okay technically that's two but I thought I'd squish them together since I always read them right after each other.

2) Princess Academy by Shannon Hale -- A light read that always takes me away from any troubles.

3) Deltora Quest by Emily Rodda -- I famously reread this Middle-Grade series every year (now I own the first half in Japanese so a little bit of variety to this tradition)

4)World War Z by Max Brooks -- A surprise love of mine that I also reread often.

5) Dark Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop -- Of course now I have about three more books on top of that to reread since I love the Shalador plot...

I guess technically most of those are series and not books, but when I start one to reread I just have to read the rest of them.

Finally, I think next time I might just do what many others have done and made a couple of masterposts and keep re-editing it. Anyway BACK INTO THE THRONG I GO.

Readathon: Hour 12 -- Halfway Mark

HOUR 14 EDIT: Officially going to nap now (ate dinner and then read a little bit more I should be back by hour 16, hour 18 at the latest for rest of the readathon.

It's mid of hour twelve, which means if I don't take a nap soon I'm going to be in big trouble later tonight. I am about 200 pages through The Son of Neptune and enjoying it greatly, as I have all the Riordan books I've read. I'm also pretty sure I'll be going to A Curse as Dark as Gold next and then finishing up with Hunger (my guess is that I'll be lucky to get to Hunger and I'd be surprised if I finish it, though I do have more books to read if I do)

Anyway, here's another mini-challenge!

Fake Steph's Trouble Maker Challenge

aka My favourite Anti-hero

Picking a favourite anti-hero is a really hard thought process for me, it doesn't help that I read a lot of books based for younger audiences which tend to have the "fairytale hero" type rather than an anti-hero and then I realized that there were three characters that I adored that ended up becoming "antiheroes" in their series, and that would be the Baudelaire Orphans from A Series of Unfortunate Events. Though it seems very obvious good versus evil, the Orphans soon find themselves doing things not necessarily considered "good and moral things" just so they can survive in the world they have been shoved into. They are especially antiheroes in the last two books: The Penultimate Peril and The End.


And now it's time to be fed din-din and then force myself to nap for a few hours. In theory you shouldn't see any posts from me for a while... in theory.

Readathon: Hour 10 -- Book One Down!

I finished Delirium! That's 400+ pages under my belt, not so bad considering I started late. Now I'm on The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan, another big one at a little more than 500 pages, but not necessarily the hardest book in the world to read.

Anyway you know the drill by now~ Here's another challenge.

Readathon: Hour 7 -- A Post Every Two Hours Sounds Good To Me

Two hours brings me twelve chapters farther into Delirium marking me at about 2/3rds done. I'm also debating what book I should head to next, maybe the Percy Jackson book, giving me a short dystopian break before I start up on Hunger.

Anyway, two more mini-challenges! And I have also made myself some delicious lunch (yay).

First off is Book Journey's Book Appetit Challenge

Since I am currently reading Delirium I will go with that. I'd begin the meal by serving a fruit salad of apples and oranges and definitely end it with a very fancy, overly rich chocolate cake with candied hearts on it. As for beverage I feel as if something alcoholic would be great as a representation of the loss of control.

Just finished Chapter 6 of Delirium and loving it so far. Thought I would take a break to do some mini-challenges.

Update: Dewey's Readathon

As Dewey's Readathon is coming up in well one and a half days I thought I'd share my book list with everyone. This is my first time participating so I had fun trying to strategizing which books and what books to read to maximize my staying awake and engaged capacity, considering I have no idea how I'd do that, there was a lot of guessing involved (a lot of I KNOW I WILL BE GONE FOREVER WITH THIS BOOK moments).

Here are my book choices:

Bloodborn throughThe Son of Neptune are the books I'm choosing to read while the last four are books I will re-read in between if I feel myself losing interest in the other books. As for right now I plan on reviewing four in the list.

As for how much I plan on participating, I know I'm going to be there in the beginning and I'll be there at the end (right before I have to run off to my second job). I plan on taking two nap breaks midway through (I want to see what the mini-challenges are before I figure out when, but beggers can't be choosers) since I have been threatened to have my books taken away if I don't sleep before going to mentioned second job on Sunday. I might also have to pop into first job if they need me (I was getting begged to come in), but I'm hoping it'll just be books, books, books.
